If You’re Looking for a Royal Dream Job, Kate Middleton Needs a New Personal Secretary
We thought being the royal tweeter was an amazing chance to become besties with Kate Middleton, but now there may be a gig up for grabs that will let you work directly with the Duchess herself pretty much every single day. That’s because Kate needs a new personal secretary. Talk about royal dream job!
Rebecca Deacon has been Middleton’s personal secretary since 2012, appointed to the position just a year after the Duchess married Prince William and became a member of the royal family. Now, Deacon will soon be celebrating her own nuptials and has decided to leave her job behind.
A spokesperson for the royals told the Daily Mail, “After a decade of service to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, Rebecca Deacon will be stepping down as private secretary to the Duchess of Cambridge. She plans to leave the household in the summer. Their Royal Highnesses are incredibly grateful for all the hard work and support Rebecca has provided over the past ten years, and wish her well in the next phase of her career.”
That means Kate Middleton will soon (or may already) be looking for a new personal secretary. Responsible for organizing official engagements as well as giving Kate the deets on where she’s heading and who she’s meeting, the Duchess’s personal secretary often travels along with the family and can usually be seen a step behind or sitting right beside Middleton.
A unique opportunity to become an inner member of the royal family’s professional circle, this gig likely won’t be posted on any ol’ job boards (Deacon was selected after working for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale), but it may show up on the royal household’s employment page if we keep our fingers crossed.
