Katy Perry’s Best Career Advice + 3 More #Girlboss Tips from the Richest Female Celebs
Sorry Taylor, but it looks like your arch-nemesis, Ms. Katy Perry, has reigned supreme on Forbes’ 2015 list of the highest-paid entertainers. While Taylor and Calvin recently came out on top as the highest-paid couple in Hollywood, KP ranked five spots ahead of Swift when it came to individual earnings. This year alone, Katy raked in a whopping $135 million dollars – much of that stemming from her recent worldwide tour. The only two to top her were the legendary boxers Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
To celebrate her accomplishment, Forbes put Katy on the new issue’s cover – in a gold-studded money suit, no less. While at first it may seem as though Katy is flaunting her wealth while the rest of us crack open our piggy banks just to make rent, her recent Instagram post may make you reconsider.
After the cover’s release, Katy shared the image on her profile alongside a caption that reads, “Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn’t a humble decision. Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized. Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it’s okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also… don’t think that I didn’t celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme.”
While Katy topped the list, there are a bunch of other super inspirational and successful ladies who followed closely behind Katy. Here are some key #Girlboss tips from them to help you become the most successful woman you can be.
1. Uncertainty can be a good thing. While chatting with Vogue, Taylor Swift (#8 on Forbes’ list) said, “If you start thinking you’ve got it down, that’s when you run into trouble — either by getting complacent or becoming mouthy.” While self-doubt can be/is usually harmful, feeling like you should always be trying just a little bit harder can easily help you progress further than you ever thought you could. 2. Be confident in your values. In her book, Seriously… I’m Kidding, Ellen Degeneres (who came in at #12) wrote “Find out who you are and figure out what you believe in. Even if it’s different from what your neighbors believe in and different from what your parents believe in. Stay true to yourself. Have your own opinion. Don’t worry about what people say about you or think about you. Let the naysayers nay. They will eventually grow tired of naying.” (Photo via Jason Kempin/Getty)
3. Don’t expect success to come without hard work. You’d be sorely mistaken to think that all these ladies made it to where they are without some serious effort. Lady Gaga, who came in at #25 on the list, once said, “I am focused on the work. I am constantly creating. I am a busy girl. I live and breathe my work. I love what I do. I believe in the message.” (Photo via Gary Gershoff/Getty)
