These Are the Worst Work Lunches, According to New Study
Unless you’re a bona fide #girlboss small biz owner, work perks are up to your employer. Although there are a ton of office benefits that keep the inspiration flowing, not much compares to free lunch from the boss. Saving money and chatting with coworkers while we’re scoping the buffet? Sign us up, RN. But now, a recent survey by corporate lunch provider EAT Club reveals the majority of employees are tired of the traditional office lunch standbys. In fact, most professionals prefer Asian-inspired cuisine, with chicken teriyaki topping the list for most.
The survey also reveals the best and the worst parts about getting a free lunch (we know: Don’t complain about things that cost zero dollars, right?). More than a quarter of employees wish they had the freedom to choose what they ate for lunch. Actually, we get that. Free food is great, but after the fourth day in a row of sandwiches, it gets old. EAT Club also found that free lunch is an amazing financial perk: 50 percent of people said they’d spend more than $50 a week on food if they weren’t offered free lunch in the office.
To get their results, Eat Club surveyed more than 1,100 adults in December about their lunch loves and the foods they’re *so* over. The study also asked people what they’d be doing with their time if they didn’t have to think about what to eat for lunch (assuming they didn’t get free meals daily). And these folks did not hold back with their responses.
