Morgan Freeman and Peter Dinklage Face Off in an Epic Lip-Sync Super Bowl Rap Battle
Early looks at this year’s Super Bowl commercials have already given us Tiffany Haddish for Groupon, sad Keanu Reeves for Squarespace, and shirtless Chris Pratt for Michelob Ultra. And now we have Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage facing off in an epic lip-syncing rap battle for Doritos Blaze and Mtn Dew Ice.
The people doing the actual rapping are the actors’ coaches, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes, but Freeman and Dinklage sell it like it’s their own.
The GoT star steps up first, breathing fire (from the Doritos, naturally) and staring intensely at the camera as he walks toward us, spitting every word of Busta’s “Look at Me Now.” The chairs and walls and basically the entire room light up as he does the same to the song.
From there things freeze up, but they certainly don’t cool down. Freeman struts along with a hip bounce as the space around him turns to ice and he mouths the words to “Get Your Freak On.” Chills!
While the intensity certainly sparks on screen, fans will be able to get into the fun IRL as well. If you hop onto social media, you’ll be able to pick a team using an exclusive Snapchat lens that allows you to record your own rap-tastic lip-syncing performance.
The ad will air during the big game on February 4, making this the first nationally televised Super Bowl commercial to feature one company advertising two of its trademarks back-to-back.
