The Most Popular Baby Names of 2017… So Far
The Most Popular Baby Names of 2017 at the half-year mark crown a new boys’ name as king of the list, with Asher reclaiming the Number 1 spot from Ezra.
More hot news from the boys’ side of Nameberry’s popular names list: A fifth of the Top 100 boys’ names are new, with such style darlings as Kane, Magnus, Arlo, and Cassius moving up the ranks.
Boys’ names new to the Top 10 are Jasper and Theodore, in the spotlight as the name of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s youngest child.
With girls’ names, the standings are relatively more sedate, a turnaround from the usual pattern. Olivia maintains her reign as the Number 1 girls’ name among Nameberry’s visitors, with Amelia and Charlotte holding steady in second and third place. The new names in the girls’ Top 10 are classics Evelyn, Penelope, and Eleanor.
Nameberry’s half-year popularity list is created by calculating which names received the biggest share of the more than 30 million unique views of our name pages in the first half of 2017. This level of interest is one of the best ways to identify current baby name trends and to gauge future name popularity.
