Disney Is Bringing Back the Muppet Babies With a New Reboot
When we found out that one of our childhood fave’s, Fraggle Rock, was coming back, it was almost too good to be true. It can’t be denied that our nostalgia-based love for muppets is as strong as our love of remakes, which is why we could not be happier to learn that Disney is giving the Muppet Babies a modern reboot. This makes “our dreams come truuue!”
Muppet Babies, the younger, tinier (and oh-so-cute) versions of our fave puppet-based characters, originally ran as an animated cartoon from 1984 until 1991. While watching the infant and toddler crew reading stories and going on whimsical imagination-led adventures, there were always plenty of songs and even more fun in each episode.
The new version, which we’ll see on Disney Junior in 2018, will keep with the “mixed animation style” of the original series, but will also incorporate CG-animated sections.
We can’t wait to see little Kermit the Frog once again along with Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Animal. But that’s not it. If you’ll remember back, the cast also included Scooter and Skeeter, Rowlf the Dog and Gonzo, as well as occasional visits from Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker. And, of course, Nanny’s legs popping in every once in a while to check in on things.
Sing it, muppet friends: “When your world looks kinda weird and you wish that you weren’t there… Just close your eyes and make believe and you can be anywhere…”
