‘Nashville’ Is Teasing Some Major Surprises for Its Series Finale in the Latest Season 6 Trailer
It’s the end of the road — again, and this time for good — for Nashville. The show returns for the first of its final eight episodes on Thursday, June 7, and the latest trailer teases a fittingly dramatic ending to the series.
The trailer gives glimpses of the issues that each of the main characters will face over the next several weeks. Will (Chris Carmack) gets an ominous-sounding health update after his on-stage collapse; Maddie (Lennon Stella) grows closer to her pop star boyfriend and further apart from her family; Scarlett (Clare Bowen) deals with a scare involving her new friend from the equine therapy center; Avery (Jonathan Jackson) finds himself in another love triangle with Gunnar (Sam Palladio); and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) attempts to escape from a cult. She’s also (spoiler alert!) pregnant.
Nashville originally aired on ABC for its first four seasons and was revived by CMT following a groundswell of fan support. The show’s star, Connie Britton, made a shocking exit from the series early in season 5 when her beloved character Rayna James was unexpectedly killed off.
At the end of the trailer for season 6’s final episodes, Rayna’s husband Deacon (Charles Esten) is seen sitting on the bed as he looks at a blurry figure who appears to be a blonde woman. “Is this real?” he asks.
Some have speculated that Nashville may try to bring Rayna back in some way for the finale. It’s impossible to tell who or what Deacon is seeing (maybe it’s his sister, Beverly, who died after donating part of her liver to her brother), but one thing is for sure — you don’t want to miss these final eight episodes.
Nashville returns for its final run on Thursday, June 7, at 9pm ET on CMT.
