Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks Has Filed for Divorce After 17 Years of Marriage
Talk about a surprise breakup! Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines has filed for divorce from her actor husband, Adrian Pasdar, after 17 years of marriage, TMZ is reporting.
Reports state the divorce is over irreconcilable differences and is amicable, but the split is a surprising one for fans of the country singer, as in the past, the pair were considered one of country music’s greatest couples. The actor and singer, who met as witnesses to Maines’ bandmate Emily Robinson Strayer’s wedding, immediately fell for each other and were married within the year. They have two kids: 16-year-old Jackson and 12-year-old Beckett.
In recent years, the Dixie Chicks (and Maines in particular) have been drawing heat from country fans for their strong opposition to many members of the Republican party. It started with their now-infamous statement about George W. Bush and continued through their support of the Women’s March this past January, which was the last time Pasdar and Maines were spotted in public together.
Pasdar has had an active career, including starring with Milo Ventimigilia in Heroes before going on to appear in Mysterious Ways. While neither he nor Maines has released an official statement, if the split truly is amicable, this may be another example of the now-popular conscious uncoupling made famous by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
