Natalie Portman Has a Baby Girl (With a Jedi-Worthy Name)
Less than a week after Natalie Portman sidestepped both the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards under doctor’s orders, the actress has given birth to a baby girl with her choreographer hubby, Benjamin Millepied.
The couple, who you may recall met on the set of their joint film, Black Swan, are already parents to five-year-old son Aleph. While we likely won’t be getting a peek at Aleph’s new little sis for quite some time (Portman has no social media accounts to speak of and Millepied seems to keep his largely work-focused), we CAN reveal her very regal name: Amalia Millepied.
Though Portman has expressed distaste for herStar Wars days of yore, we can’t help but reflect back to her character of Queen Padmé Amidala, which has a rather similar ring. More likely, however, it’s a nod to the pair’s own industriousness, as the German-rooted name literally means “work.” Either way, their second A-name pick is rather elegant and beautiful, making it a fitting choice for the gorgeous pair.
While we’ll undoubtedly miss seeing all the fashionable ways the Oscar winner has dressed up her bump over the course of her pregnancy (check out her chic LBD!), we’re unbelievably excited for the couple. Congratulations, Natalie and Ben!
