Designer Nate Berkus Welcomes Daughter With This Floral Baby Name
Just as spring is blooming, we have a nature-inspired name to go along with the sweet season. Remember how psyched we were with the rumors that Blake Lively’s baby’s name was Violet? That may have been a mistake, but the flower power love is still in season thanks to a new celebrity couple taking this baby name trend to full bloom.
Designer Nate Berkus joyfully announced the birth of his daughter Poppy with husband Jeremiah Brent on Facebook this morning. In the post he wrote, “Jeremiah & I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter, Poppy Brent-Berkus, born via surrogate on March 23, 2015. We are so excited to finally be a family of 3!” He continued the update by assuring everyone just how aware he is of the work ahead of them. “As anyone with a newborn knows, we have our work cut out for us but couldn’t be happier to be embarking on this life changing journey that is parenthood. Thank you all for your well wishes and support.” Our pro tip to keep that sanity is to savor bathtime, dads.
Not only does the couple, who got married at the New York Public Library in May, have their hands full courtesy of their new addition but they will also be busy decorating the nursery. Yep, even though Nate is a design pro, they held off on decorating their daughter’s room until she was born. Nate told People the reason behind that decision, “I’m Jewish, so we don’t decorate the nursery before the baby’s born. It’s a superstition; it’s a cultural thing. I think it means you’re tempting fate, so I’m not tempting anything: healthy baby, gorgeous nursery on the way. Knock on wood!”
We can’t wait to see the definitely-detail-oriented nursery; it might even rival our current favorite crib, Ansel Morin’s ;)
