A Magical Advent Calendar Leads to Romance in Netflix’s ‘The Holiday Calendar’ — Watch the Trailer!
After the success of 2017’s A Christmas Prince, Netflix is doubling down on original holiday movies by increasing its output of the festive flicks. In addition to the royal wedding-themed sequel to A Christmas Prince, the streaming service is offering up The Holiday Calendar, which — according to the official trailer that just dropped — is about a magical advent calendar that leads to romance for one lucky lady.
The Vampire Diaries‘ Kat Graham stars as Abby Sutton, a talented but struggling photographer who’s afraid to step out of her comfort zone, despite wishing that she could be “fearless enough” to go after her dreams. When her friend Josh (Quincy Brown) comes back to town after finding success in the same field, she’s forced to take a hard look at her life. “You’ve been traveling the world, taking photos, dating interesting people,” she tells him. “I’ve been too scared to leave my crappy day job.”
Things start to change, though, when her grandfather (played by This Is Us actor Ron Cephas Jones) gives her a special antique advent calendar that belonged to her late grandmother. “Your grandmother was convinced it had magical powers,” Abby’s gramps tells her. “She said it brought her to me.”
The calendar might do something similar for Abby, as each day it presents her with a tiny item that mirrors something in her real life. A Christmas tree toy, for example, leads to her meeting the dreamy Ty (Ethan Peck) when she accidentally runs over his tree after it falls off the roof of his car.
The future looks bright for Abby, but there will surely be a twist or two in store for her before she finds her happily-ever-after.
The Holiday Calendar will begin streaming on Netflix on November 2.
