Never Lose a Pot Lid Again With This One-Size-Fits-All Option
Welcome to our new food series called Eat It Up, where we share the kitchen gadgets and foods that we can’t cook without.
Let’s set the scene: You’re in the groove in the kitchen, and suddenly the recipe calls for you to cover your masterpiece. You look for the lid, but it’s either too big or too small. The right lid has to be in your kitchen somewhere! It came as a set after all. What the…
Avoid the frustration (and impending mess you make while searching for the match) with a Made In Universal Lid ($49).
As the name promises, it’s essentially a one-size-fits-all pot cover. The stainless steel lid is coated in FDA-approved silicone. It features three interior lips that can snugly fit over an array of pots and pans to prevent heat loss or spilling. The top is also safe for the dishwasher and oven (up to 350°F).
Made In’s lid comes with a seal of approval from Top Chef‘s Tom Colicchio. “I cook at home a lot… more than I do in my restaurant kitchens. I have a cabinet in my drawer that is loaded with lids,” says the chef, who also invested in the company. “So to have a universal lid that actually makes sense. It’s a game changer… I can get rid of all these lids and have one universal lid — that’s brilliant!“
Even if you know where your lids are (good for you), consider this version to help with the basics in the kitchen. The lid’s ribs contour to the pan, keeping in more heat and steam, so your food heats up quicker. “It boils water faster,” says Colicchio, who also reaches for it when reheating leftovers.
