Christian Louboutin’s Latest Capsule Collection Has a Whole New Look
If you covet fresh footwear collabs and relish exclusivity, you’re going to go cray for Louboutin’s latest capsule collection — precisely because they’re SO un-Louboutin-like.
Inspired by brightly colored, hand-embroidered saris and ribbons, the Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi Capsule Collection integrates Indian fabric and designs with the eye-catching styles the French designer is known for.
It all started when Louboutin befriended Indian couture designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and discovered that not only did they share a love for high-end craftsmanship but also Indian culture. “Indian handicraft is the best of the best in the world. The luxuriance of Indian workmanship is at the maximum,” says Louboutin. “I would love the world outside of India to love it as I do.” And do we ever.
The collab features 10 women’s shoe styles (including a made-to-measure thigh-high boot), two men’s styles, piloutins (Indian evening bags designed to look like fancy pillows), and poupettes (Indian bag charms). This very limited edition collab will only be available at eight locations globally.
In celebration, Louboutin designed graphic storybooks to accompany the shoes. A Deep Sleep for Beauty tells the story of a woman placed under a sleeping spell that can only be broken when she possesses the most beautiful object in the world — the gorgeously edgy and aptly named Tall and Deep thigh-high boots. We’d def wake up for a pair of these babies, no prince needed.
Beginning this month, the collection will be exclusively available at Bergdorf Goodman in New York and Christian Louboutin Boutique in Los Angeles.
