Nick Cannon’s New Baby Boy Has Arrived and His Name Is DEFINITELY One of a Kind
Add Nick Cannon to the list of celebs with non-traditional families! Though he’s never really stopped professing his love for ex-wife Mariah Carey, recently sharing an adorable post-holiday family dinner with her and even going so far as to shade her new relationship, the actor HAS moved on — sort of.
Since splitting from the songstress, Cannon shared a brief relationship with former beauty queen and actress Brittany Bell, and though the two have since called it quits romantically, they DID welcome a son together today. The babe makes three for Cannon (he also shares twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe Cannon with Carey).
The new dad posted a heartwarming shot with his new bundle of joy to Instagram, saying, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning! No matter how hard the world may hit you, God always reminds us of our purpose!”
The former Nickelodeon star also revealed his new son’s name, and to call it “unique” would be an understatement — Golden Sagon Cannon.
Prior to the baby’s birth, Cannon took to the airwaves of Power 106 FM to set the record straight about his relationship with his ex-GF and squash rumors that the babe had been an accident. “Never an ‘oops’ baby,” he said. “I’m so calculated with my moves… I’ve always wanted five kids. Just because my marriage was over doesn’t mean I couldn’t continue my family.”
As for Bell, Cannon, who grew up with the former Miss Arizona, says he chose her as his partner in parenting for a good reason. “I wanted to make sure it was someone who was solid, spiritual, and had the same views,” he says. “She’s been in my life. Our families grew up in the same projects together in San Diego. So there’s a lot of substance there.”
But don’t think he’s forgot about the rest of his fam (Mariah included): Cannon says the twins are “super excited,” and that “Mariah, Moroccan, and Monroe will always be my family, but we can have other aspects of our family.”
Congratulations to the proud papa and Bell — and kudos on their modern (and inclusive!) family views!
