Nicole Richie Doesn’t Remember Shoplifting With Kim Kardashian, But That Doesn’t Mean It Didn’t Happen
During her Urban Decay partnership launch on Tuesday, newly minted mascara icon Nicole Richie admitted that she doesn’t remember shoplifting with Kim Kardashian West as teens. But that doesn’t mean they’re not guilty of it — Richie just can’t remember the specifics.
Talking with People at the UD launch, Richie said she was drawn to the partnership in part because of the brand’s mascara, Troublemaker. “Their message is very similar to mine and my brand’s in the sense that both of us are about self expression and redefining beauty.” And that name? It spoke to Richie’s past.
“I’m a troublemaker, for sure,” she said, adding that while she doesn’t remember the events that Kardashian West wrote about on her website, she’s not surprised by her friend’s story. “I wouldn’t put it past myself,” she said of the confession.
In a post on her app last month, the KKW beauty boss said, “When Nicole Richie and I were around 11, we went into a drugstore in Malibu and took lipstick. We thought we were so badass!” Kardashian West couldn’t remember exactly which lipstick they took, but it was a brown color made by Revlon.
Richie told People that while she started experimenting with makeup around the same time she and Kardashian West may have been stealing lipsticks, she hid it from her parents until she was a little older. “I used to sneak it and then I think when I was probably like 16, I would really wear it,” she said.
