Don Draper is the epitome of cool. In all honesty, he’s not exactly husband or father material, but most men would probably love to walk a day in his shoes. So today, just in time for Father’s Day, we’re bringing you the Mad Men classic cocktail: The Old Fashioned. Bourbon, bitters, a little sugar and water all served over ice. It’s a strong one, but it’s sophisticated and very cool (even that girly-looking maraschino cherry doesn’t take away from the masculinity of this tipple). Makes 4 cocktails
— 8 ounces bourbon whiskey
— 2 teaspoons Angostura bitters
— 4 sugar cubes
— 4 Tablespoons plain water
— 2 cups of ice cubes
— 4 maraschino cherries
— 4-8 orange slices
Instructions:
1. Place one sugar cube in each glass.
2. Add half a teaspoon of Angostura bitters and one tablespoon of plain water to each glass.
3. Stir together until the sugar cubes dissolve.
4. Fill each glass with ice, then pour two ounces of bourbon over the ice. Stir, then top with a maraschino cherry and one or two orange slices.
