This New Mani Tool Makes Painting Your Non-Dominant Hand a Cinch
Have you ever sat down for a little DIY mani sesh only to realize that when you switch to your non-dominant hand, your technique gets a little, well, messy? Ah, the reality of trying to paint your nails at home. While practice surely makes (near) perfect, there’s no denying that trying to stay within the lines can be seriously tricky (read: wobbly) when switching from one hand to the other. At least, that’s been the narrative up until Olive & June launched their latest product.
On March 14, the LA-based nail salon, which also offers its own products, released The Poppy ($16). Designed to be your new at-home mani BFF, the innovative, round rubber tool fits over the top of any polish bottle cap (yup, even the ones you already own) to streamline the process of painting your nails with either hand.
“Women currently struggle with painting their nails at home, because the polish bottle is designed for professionals to use with their dominant hand,” says Sarah Gibson Tuttle, CEO and founder of Olive & June. Tuttle and her team solved our manicure nightmare by transforming the cap.
The Poppy creates a larger polish handle that fits in your palm, as opposed to between your fingers, so your weaker hand has more control. As a result, it helps deliver a steady DIY stroke of your fave lacquers (OPI and essie, included).
“We all have bottles of colors we love collecting dust,” says Tuttle. “Painting your own nails with a color you love should be fun, and The Poppy is here to help!”
