Olympian Aly Raisman Might Be the Newest Member of Taylor Swift’s #GirlSquad

To our celeb-lovin’ discontent, Taylor Swift has been relatively quiet on social media lately. Reportedly taking a break from the biz (despite buzz around a new album coming in October), she’s been popping up only periodically to poke back into public life. This time, it was to congratulate the #FinalFive on their gold medal win, and though Aly Raisman and the other four ladies making up the US women’s gymnastics team have their own #girlsquad which rivals Tay’s, it looks like Aly might be open to being a double-squad kinda gal.

While the rest of the country was giddy over the ladies gold medal performances, Tay was feeling the love, too, tweeting, “Sending my biggest congratulations to Simone, Aly, Laurie, Gabby and Madison! YOU DID IT GIRLS!! #FinalFive” Love. It. Though some peeps might send back a quick thanks, Aly took the opportunity to make a new (famous) friend.

Responding right back to Taylor, Aly tweeted, “@taylorswift13 I <3 your song 22 because I’m 22 hehe… And next time you’re in Boston lets go shopping …” Fans were quick to react to this epic new-bestie possibility with, “I’m here for this. And can I be invited?” and “y’all be friends!!! Would make my life!!” Others were a little more direct, asking, “are u tryna join her squad omg” We certainly hope so!

We can’t wait to see Aly (and perhaps the rest of the team?) at Taylor’s legendary #GirlSquad-filled Fourth of July weekend bash next year.
