On-Demand Massages Might Be the Best Valentine’s Gift Idea EVER
The most romantic day of the year is just around the corner. There’s always a lot of pressure to nail the perfect gift on Valentine’s Day — not too much, not too little, the right amount of sentimentality depending on how long you’ve been with your SO, no stuffed bears from Walgreens, you know the drill. This year, you can *really* impress your Valentine (or gift yourself, single ladies) and book an at-home on-demand massage session. Yes, in our “Uber of [Fill in the Blank]” world, there’s now an Uber for massage therapy.
We were pretty psyched when we heard about Unwind Me, an SF-based service that sends massages to your office/home/wherever it is that you may be stressin’ and thought we’d dig around to find some that won’t just service Brit HQ (though, hint hint, y’all!). We dug up three apps and sites that will bring the spa right to your living room so you can loosen up before the big date night out. Bonus: Bookmark this for you last-minute gift givers out there!
1. Soothe ($99+): Available seven days a week for same day massages in seven different cities, these licensed therapists offer everything from deep tissue, Swedish and sports massages for solo or couples sessions up to 120 minutes. Similar to Uber and Lyft, the gratuity is all included in the app so all you have to do is tap tap your way to your Valentine’s super relaxed heart. (Available on iOS)
2. Zeel ($99+): This service — available on both coasts — provides 60 or 90 minute Swedish, deep tissue or prenatal massages from its licensed massage therapists. The therapists bring the massage table (Pro tip: get a discount if you have your own), while you provide the linens, towels and pillows. Only a little light work is needed to prep for this back rub. (Available on iOS and Android)
3. Unwind Me ($89+): Currently only available in San Francisco, this company lets you book appointments from licensed therapists as little as an hour in advance. Select the Unwind Kit (oils, a massage table and spa-quality sheets) for your couples massage and you’ll be guaranteed to make all your girls envious of your Valentine’s Day.
