See the Best (and Worst) Dressed from the Oscars’ Red Carpet
With the Oscars only moments away, we’re crossing our fingers that Leo finally walks away with a golden statue (Adele is also rooting for The Revenant star). However, we’re also buzzing over the show-stopping moments that went down before the big event. Here are all the best- (and worst-) dressed celebs from this year’s Academy Awards.
1. Jennifer Lawrence: Going for that “barely there” look, Jennifer showed up looking like the red carpet goddess she is in this Dior dress. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
2. Olivia Wilde: Nominated for her involvement in a documentary on Ebola, Olivia showed up in this origami-inspired number by Valentino Haute Couture. With a plunging neckline and a fanned detail in back, this is like nothing we’ve seen before. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
3. Mindy Kaling: Mindy Kaling’s dramatic gown by Elizabeth Kennedy kept it simple in front but went all out with the drama in the back. Too much? Maybe, but we definitely admire Mindy for taking such a high-stake fashion risk. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
4. Sofia Vergara: Color has finally made a return on this year’s red carpet, but surprisingly, Sofia played it safe in this embellished navy blue gown by Marchesa. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
5. Saoirse Ronan: This Best Actress nominee had one requirement for her Oscars’ red carpet: She wanted to wear green. We think she’s kind of killing it in this hand-sequined Calvin Klein gown. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
Sophie Turner
This Game of Thrones star looks effortlessly chic in a ’90s-inspired dress. Will she manage to score a second selfie with Ryan Gosling tonight? Only time will tell. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)7. Rooney Mara: Always one to pick something unique, Rooney showed up in this stunningly intricate dress by Givenchy. There’s so much to see in this dress, we almost missed those epic platform sandals. 8. Olivia Munn: Orange is always a risky color to pull off, but leave it to Olivia to do it flawlessly in this dress by Stella McCartney. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
Alicia Vikander
Belle? Is that you? The Danish Girl’s Alicia Vikander looked like a regular Disney princess in this giant yellow embellished dress by Louis Vuitton. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)10. Isla Fisher: Unlike her fearless husband Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla played it safe this year in this embroidered gown. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
11. Chrissy Teigen: Is there a red carpet Chrissy hasn’t slayed this year? She’s been killing the maternity style game, but this Marchesa dress takes it to another level. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
12. Rachel McAdams: Never one to let us down in the style department, Rachel McAdams paired her new blonde locks with this deep evergreen-colored dress by August Getty Atelier. (Photo via Jason Merrit/Getty)
13. Lady Gaga: Lady Gaga looked like a vision in white wearing this jumpsuit dress designed by her friend and stylist Brandon Maxwell. (Photo via Jason Merrit/Getty)
14. Brie Larson: This Best Actress nominee looked like a total movie star in this Gucci gown that kept it simple up top but held nothing back on bottom. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
Kerry Washington
Evoking a little bit of a Fifty Shades of Grey vibe, Kerry Washington’s Versace dress featured a touch of leather. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)16. Margot Robbie: Margot Robbie showed up looking like the personification of an actual Oscar award in this Diane Von Furstenberg dress. (Photo via Kevork Djansezian/Getty)
17. Heidi Klum: There’s definitely A LOT going on with this Marchesa dress. If fairy princess-turned-rejected bridesmaid is the look Heidi was after, she 100% nailed it. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
18. Cate Blanchett: If an enchanted forest took the form of an Oscars dress, it would probably look a lot like Cate Blanchett’s dress by Armani Prive. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
19. Jennifer Garner: Jen is the first actress we’ve seen wear black to tonight’s event, but she’s sure doing it well in this flawless number by Versace. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
20. Tina Fey: Keeping things chic and simple, Tina showed up looking more than red-carpet ready in this Atelier Versace purple outfit. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
21. Reese Witherspoon: Wait. Did Reese and Tina steal J. Law and Amy Schumer’s idea of wearing matching dresses to the Golden Globes?! Reese’s dress differs slightly, but damn do they look alike. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
22. Charlize Theron: Wowza. Leave it to Charlize to put the rest of the nominees to shame when she’s not even nominated. Major props to Dior for this showstopper. (Photo via Jason Merritt/Getty)
