We can always count on multiple things when it comes to summer. Pool parties, barbecues, big-time blockbusters, vacation and — of course — the song(s) of the summer. Getting a head start on claiming the tunes we won’t be able to get out of our head from now until after Labor Day is Pandora, releasing its list of the potential summer anthems. Don’t press play just yet; they may not be exactly what you’d expect.
Pandora determined the songs they believe are sure to be staples on every road trip and blasting at all the parties and beaches this summer by dipping into its bank of music user data. The music streaming company determined the 12 songs that you’ll be getting turnt up to by looking at insights around listener data and knowledge from Pandora’s Music Maker Group. So while we’ve been busy streaming the “Pretty Girls,” “Bad Blood” and “Feeling Myself” music videos nonstop, those three didn’t actually make the cut. Wait… what? How?! (Besides Taylor, who we know is not the biggest fan of Pandora or its frenemy Spotify…)
Leaving those three Brit HQ favorites off, the “songs of summer” playlist mixes EDM, hip hop and country tunes, all with upbeat tempos, catchy lyrics and addictive beats. It’s time to get the party started, but the question remains — are these your personal summer faves?
