New Photos of Carrie Fisher Show the Everlasting Bond Between Mother & Daughter
It was just last December (and far too soon) that the world said goodbye to Carrie Fisher. The woman who charmed movie-lovers as the unflinchingly fierce Princess Leia was not only adored by fans across generations, but she was greatly loved by the people closest to her. That’s more than obvious in the new pics from Vanity Fair which show the iconic actress with her daughter, Billie Lourd, and co-star, Mark Hamill, who both clearly loved Fisher more than words could express.
Giving fans a thrilling sneak peek at Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Fisher’s last film for the epic franchise), the Vanity Fair feature also delves into the actress’s lasting legacy, most significantly the impact she had on her friends and family.

It seems Fisher shared a bond with her on-screen twin, Mark Hamill, that was just as strong during their final movie together as it was during their first — seeing a side-by-side shot of the two as young actors and then embracing for one of the last times is enough to get the tears flowing.

But it’s the picture of Fisher posing with Billie Lourd (both in their gorgeous Star Wars‘ costumes, with Lourd even wearing buns reminiscent of her mother’s famous on-screen style) that is simply heartbreaking. Clearly showing the loving bond between mother and daughter, the two both have their eyes closed as Fisher drapes her arms around Lourd, both smiling gently as they hold hands. So heartwarming while (again) so heartbreaking.
You’ll surely always be missed, Carrie! Thank you for your beautiful legacy.
