“I wish us mamas could give ourselves and each other a break.”

Pink Cried With a Mom in a Supermarket for the Sweetest Reason

We’re sure a lot of moms would love to be parenting friends with Pink. Since her MTV VMAs Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech, which focused on her daughter and the open-minded approach she’s taking while raising her kids, she’s proved again and again that she’s the kind of modern mom you’d love to sit down and chat with over coffee — or perhaps cry with in a supermarket, which is exactly what happened to one woman.

The “Beautiful Trauma” singer took to Twitter on Wednesday to detail an unexpected encounter she had earlier in the day, writing, “A really sweet Mama came up 2me tonight at the grocery store and told me some nice words about how she gets strength from my parenting cause I’m not afraid to f*ck up in public.”

The 38-year-old was moved by the woman’s confession, admitting, “We cried together.” She then added, “It’s so hard. Y’all. I wish us mamas could give ourselves and each other a break.”

Pink’s followers were quick to agree. “It’s hard being a mom. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride,” one person wrote in response. Another tweeted: “We are all just making it up as we go. I’ve got a 14 year old daughter…NO idea what 15 year olds do…I will wing it when we get there. Love to all the mamas xx.”

A third fan added, “I’m with you @Pink. Was a single mama and needed help. Now I go outta my way to help … when appropriate. Love to see the momentary look of relief when a mom knows someone else has been there and still cares. #hardestjobintheworld”

Dads related, too, with one saying, “I’m a single dad – 19 years! My boy is in his third year at University and on the Deans List for four semesters. I #LoveSingleMoms #ILoveALLMoms because I understand by living it every day!!”

We’re sure Pink’s daughter Willow and baby boy Jameson — and all of the other kiddos out there — appreciate what their parents do for them. Or they will when they grow up, especially if/when they have little ones of their own.
