Try This Pinterest Hair Hack for a Dreamy Braid in 10 Minutes

We Iove getting hair hacks and ideas from Pinterest. The site offers an endlessly inspiring feed of the latest and greatest in hair trends, fresh styles and killer colors that constantly make us want to run to the salon. We spotted a totally dreamy braid on — you guessed it — Pinterest and had to hack it so we’d be able to rock it in about 10 minutes flat. We promise this style only looks complicated. You’ll have it mastered in no time.

STEP 1: CREATE YOUR FIRST BRAID

Part your hair slightly off-center to start this style. Then, beginning at the crown of your head on one side, create a 3D French braid. Weave the strands underneath each other instead of on top as you’re braiding — simple as that!

STEP 2: LOOP IN MORE HAIR

As you continue braiding, add in hair from the opposite side of your head until you reach your neck, but leave out a layer of hair underneath the braid. Secure the braid with a clear elastic band. You should have a 3D French side braid at this point.

STEP 3: PANCAKE YOUR BRAID

The wow-factor of this style is in the width of each braid. Pancake the braid by gently tugging at the sides. The goal here is to create as much fullness as possible.

STEP 4: IT’S PONYTAIL TIME

Next, create a ponytail in the back using the layer of hair you left out in step two. Tease the hair by backcombing, so your locks are full of volume and texture.

STEP 5: CREATE YOUR SECOND BRAID

Now, repeat the 3D French braid style (remember: braid the strands underneath each other) on the ponytail. Don’t forget to pancake that braid too!

STEP 6: PIN ‘EM TOGETHER

It’s time to bring those braids together! Coil the second braid (the one that was created with that layer of hair you left out) into a bun at the nape of your neck. Pin it in place using a bobby pin. Finally, wrap the end of the first braid around the bun you just created and secure with a few bobby pins.

How gorgeous is this style?! We’re obsessed. Get ready to slay, lady!
