Pinterest’s Latest Update Will Change Online Shopping Forever
You know the story — so often you find yourself scrolling through Pinterest and adding outfits, furniture, DIY essentials and more to a board, only to wish that that board could be a shopping cart. Well, Pinterest is about to change the online Pinning game majorly — by giving you an instant shop option. The social media network announced today (after teasing us a few months back) it is launching buyable Pins by the end of the month. And someone that is all about it is our very own, Brit.
Coming to iOS devices by the end of June and to Android and desktops in future updates, buyable Pins give users the ability to purchase more than a million items from brands like Macy’s, Nordstrom and Michaels from a Pin without ever leaving the app or site. How convenient for our impulse buying personalities/terrifying for our wallets. In the near future blue buttons will be popping up alongside that red Pin button and, as Pinterest says, “Blue means you can buy.” And buy we will ;)
With buyable Pins, bringing the creative ideas — or fashionable outfits — to life will be way easier, like the click of a button easy. Post-launch, Pinners will be able to either search for shoppable items or naturally discover them as they scroll through their Pin feed. Users can swipe to pick their fave color and securely pay for the items with Apple Pay or a credit card. Have no fear when it comes to privacy as Pinterest or sellers won’t have access to your info. Instead, a device-specific number will be used.
Don’t mind us, we’ll just be checking the app store for updates endlessly until buyable Pins goes live.
Are you excited for buyable Pins to be a reality? Let your voice be heard in the comments.
