Pinterest’s 3 New Products Puts Inspiration in Your Hands
Pinterest is arguably the best place to find delicious recipes and wedding inspiration, but it’s also a great place to just discover new things, period. While the platform has changed a lot the past few years, we’d definitely say those changes have been for the better. And now the company has done it again. This morning, Pinterest announced three new products: Lens, Shop the Look and Instant Ideas.
1. Lens: Lens lets you search using your phone’s camera, so you can find ideas for the things you see but can’t put into words. Just take a photo of anything that piques your interest and Lens will give you relevant recommendations for similar furniture pieces, recipes, etc. Lens is rolling out to iOS and Android users starting today. And the more people use it, the smarter the technology will get, so get snapping!
2. Shop the Look: Pinterest’s newest way to shop and buy products you see in pins on your favorite fashion and decor boards is Shop the Look. Products in pins will now have blue circles on them; just tap the circle, and Pinterest will give you recommendations for similar items you can buy. On Buyable Pins results, you’ll see ideas for bringing a look to life. For example, if you see a clothing piece you love, you can see other ways people have styled it. Pinterest is currently working with Curalate, Olapic, Project September and ShopStyle so you can shop from brands and retailers like CB2, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Target and Wayfair.
3. Instant Ideas: “Show me more like this.” As you’re browsing through your home feed and find something interesting, you can instantly populate your feed with similar things by tapping the circle in the bottom right corner of any Pin. Useful for when you kind of know what you want, but want more options.
