Pitch Perfect’s Stylist Deftly Responds to Costume Controversy
Welp, looks like we have an answer to Pitch Perfect 3 #sleevegate. Last week, Rebel Wilson posted a behind-the-scenes picture of herself and castmates Brittany Snow and Chrissie Fit wearing skinny pants, red lips, pin-up style curls, and red-and-white striped sailor tops.

But some people very quickly pointed out that Wilson was wearing a short-sleeved version of the top, while Snow and Fit were in halter styles. The internet was soon up in arms over the pic, calling the costumes a form of size discrimination.
@TeenVogue, I let each actor decide how their costume fit, it was their choice, Rebel, Ester & Hana Mae wanted sleeves, #sleevegate https://t.co/rXa8URUFd0

But the film’s costume designer, Salvadore Perez, took to Twitter to speak out against the backlash and also dispel rumors that there was any such discrimination going on.“I let each actor decide how their costume fit,” Perez tweeted to Teen Vogue, which covered the story. “It was their choice. Rebel, Ester, & Hana Mae wanted sleeves.” Girl, are we glad to hear that.
And indeed, another Pitch Perfect 3 star, Kelley Jakle, posted a pic of the cast in the same outfits and there is definitely a variety of styles for all shapes.
What do you make of all of this? Tell us @BritandCo!
