This Pizza Cake Recipe Is a Piece of Cake to Bake
Growing up, pretty much any birthday party I went to had two things: pizza and cake. I don’t think I’ve ever had to choose between the two, but if I did, I would present a third option: the Pizza Cake. What is the Pizza Cake, you ask? Well, it’s simply your favorite flavor of cake frosted to look like your favorite savory treat, pizza! Trust me when I say that this is the must-have dessert at every party this year.
Materials and Tools:
- 9-inch round cake
- lots of frosting
- piping bags
- gel food coloring
- fondant
- rolling pin
- small glass
- knife
- ruler
Instructions:
1. Add some yellow and brown food coloring to some frosting until you get a golden brown pizza crust color.
2. Frost the sides and the outer top edge of the cake with the golden brown frosting.
3. Add yellow food coloring to the remaining third of the frosting. Add to piping bag.
4. Cut a large hole in the piping bag and pipe the middle of the cake in a circle, leaving the outer “crust” part exposed. Smooth the frosting.
5. Fill another piping bag with golden brown frosting and pipe the circle around the yellow “cheese” frosting. Smooth. You may need to touch up the sides after doing this.
6. Time to make pepperoni! Take a handful of fondant and add a little red food coloring. Knead until the fondant is dyed red.
7. Roll out fondant and use glass to cut circles out. Place on pizza cake.

Dig in!
Not a fan of pepperoni? Make other toppings! We made a green pepper pizza and an olive pizza.
We just rolled out green fondant for the pepper pizza and used a knife to cut pepper shapes…
Then we used black fondant for the olives to cut olive shapes. Easy peasy.
Pizza (cake) party!
Pizza might be my new favorite flavor of cake.
Bonus points if you decorate a cake box with a pizza label.
