We Just Found the Easiest Way to Curl Your Hair
Achieving perfectly bouncy curls that rival those of Victoria’s Secret Angels isn’t as simple as wrapping your hair around a hot barrel, unfortunately. From fumbling with a curling wand to clumsily calming down your hair with a curling iron, it’s all about discovering what styling method — or hair hack — works best for you. The next time you want flawless waves in a flash (and in time for Valentine’s Day, just sayin’), keep this smart trick in mind and get ready to let you hair down.
STEP 1: HIGH-TAIL IT, GIRL
First, place all of your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic band. Next, spray Biosilk Finishing Spray Firm Hold ($15) to protect your hair from the heat and help form your curls.
STEP 2: CURL ALL YOUR HAIR
With the ponytail still in place, begin curling one-inch sections of your hair with your favorite curling tool — a wand, rotating iron or big/small barrel will work. Make sure all of your hair is curled as close to the elastic as possible.
STEP 3: SET THE STAGE
Now, let your curls cool off a bit while you put on your makeup and finish getting ready — keep ’em in that pony! You can scrunch them a bit at the end for added hold.
Add in some easy volume by placing a hairspray bottle at the root of your pony and flipping your hair over it so it gets some lift.
STEP 4: LET LOOSE + SHAKE IT OFF
Now, cut off your elastic band — yes, cut it off — so you don’t have to worry about creating snags when you’d otherwise slide if out of your hair the traditional way.
Shake out your hair and fling it backward like the goddess you are. BAM! Valentine’s-Day-ready waves with built-in volume in just minutes.
To really amp this look up, try parting your hair to one side for extra volume and setting your style with a spritz of hairspray. Your catwalk is waiting!
