Google Says THESE Are the Trends That Ruled 2016
Fashion is as subjective as anything else that has to do with personal taste, but that doesn’t mean that certain trends don’t go out of style. While we search the internet for the hottest looks and newest styles, Google receives the data on which designs, fabrics, colors and brands are most popular and which are going out of favor. By collecting those deets and putting it all together in what they call the “Google Fashion Trends Report,” they get an insider’s insight into what’s “in” and what’s “out.”
Biker pants and ripped jeans — like these Dr. Denim Regina Mid-Rise Skinnies from ASOS ($81) — are at the top of the list of what’s hot, with the Kimono dress and romper coming in next. Other faves are the shirt dress, bomber jacket and boho dress.
Off-the-shoulder tops (like the Forever 21 Off-the-Shoulder Crop Top [$20] that’s pictured above) are becoming increasingly popular, along with bodysuits, lace-up tops, bralettes and Dashiki dresses. Anyone sense a distinctive ‘90s vibe here?
What’s “out”?
If you’re worried that your wardrobe is out of mode, then you’ll want to ditch the drop-crotch pants and any see-through clothes, which are among the declining fashion trends. Other trends that are SO last year? According to Google: acid-wash jeans, babydoll dresses, asymmetrical skirts and waist trainers, as well as maxi skirts and… suede skirts (sorry, Kourtney K!).
But remember — as always, fashion is a personal choice, and we’re sure you can rock whatever style sparks your interest and shows off your personal vibe.
