President Trump’s Nordstrom Tweet Had a Totally Shocking Result
Watching the President feud online with a major retailer isn’t exactly something we’ve seen before, which is why it’s pretty hard to predict how this sitch will end up playing out. For now, as Nordstorm distances itself from Ivanka Trump’s brand (not to mention two other stores following suit by trashing her signage), President Trump responded by attempting to defend his daughter, which has sparked a pretty shocking result that is surely taking the family by surprise.
When Ivanka’s dad took to Twitter to have his say (natch) just before 11am on February 8, his thoughts on the sitch were pretty darn clear. “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom,” he tweeted from his (now-infamous) personal account.
He continued, “She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!” We’ll assume the “terrible” was in regards to Nordstrom’s decision and not Ivanka’s attempts to get her father to do the right thing.

While Nordstrom’s decision and Trump’s tweet sparked a #BoycottNordstrom effort, and though the store’s stock did drop a teeny bit (dipping less than 1 percent), that only lasted for a few hours before rebounding and, in fact, RISING and ending the day up more than 4 percent.
That’s right — after ditching Ivanka’s brand and facing Trump’s tweet where he attempted to admonish the retailer, their stock is actually going up and becoming more valuable.
The one-day fluctuations can’t directly be attributed to the President’s tweet or the retailer’s decision to axe Ivanka’s brand, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
