Prince William Becomes the First Royal to Pose for the Cover of an LGBT Magazine
While we were busy wondering if Prince Harry and Ellie Goulding are the next royal/rockstar couple, Prince William was getting ready to create some serious buzz of his own. Just days after Princess Charlotte’s first adorable balcony appearance, her dad is making his own news by being the first royal to pose for the cover of an LGBT magazine.
The 33-year-old prince is looking fine, smiling from the cover of the magazine in a white dress shirt that’s unbuttoned at the neck. A+ mag cover. But this isn’t just another random prince-featuring cover, because this isn’t just any ol’ magazine. We’re talking about Attitude Magazine, which happens to be the UK’s premiere LBGT mag. Oh yeah!
He’s the first royal to pose for the cover of an LBGT magazine, so this is definitely a huge step forward for the family. The feature takes on the topic of homophobic bullying, with the cover text reading, “Making History – Prince William Meets Attitude – ‘No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason.’”
The interview inside has the Prince continuing, “…no one should have to put up with the kind of hate that these young people have endured in their lives.” The quote is in reference to a group of nine people who have endured homophobic bullying that he welcomed to his home, Kensington Palace, along with Attitude, to address the topic that is so important to himself and wife Kate Middleton.
The release of the cover is timely, coming just days after the tragedy at the gay club, Pulse, in Orlando, which prompted both William and Kate to pay their respects by signing a book of condolence at the US Embassy in London.
We definitely like to see modern royals doing awesome (and important) things. Shades of Diana’s good ways, if we ever saw ‘em.
