Priyanka Chopra Reveals How Nick Jonas Made the First Move
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got engaged after just a few months of dating earlier this year, and it all started because of a simple text message.
“I actually didn’t make the first move, he did,” Chopra told ET on Monday, October 29, before revealing how her fiancé first reached out to her. “He texted me. The first time was a text just saying, ‘I think we should connect’ and whatever, and that’s how we started talking.”
The couple first sparked engagement rumors in July and eventually confirmed the news a month later when they shared photos from their traditional Hindu prayer and engagement ceremony. Though they had reportedly only been dating for two months at the time of the proposal, they first appeared together when they walked the red carpet at the 2017 Met Gala, then just as friends.
So far, the newlyweds-to-be haven’t shared any wedding details, but given that Chopra’s friends recently threw her a bridal shower — at Tiffany’s, no less, a place very near and dear to the bride’s heart — it seems like the nuptials might not be too far off.
“This is such a wonderful new step in my life and I’m still getting used to it because it’s obviously been a whirlwind, and I haven’t seen myself happier,” Chopra told ET of her romance with Jonas. “Just being in the whole situation of finding somebody who can be a partner to you in so many more ways than one is amazing, so yes, I’m very excited.”
