Queen Elizabeth Just Posted Her Very First Tweet
Forget thank you cards, Queen Elizabeth has chosen to express how grateful she is for all the birthday love the 21st century way: by sending a tweet to her 2.5 million followers.
The 90-year-old monarch recently ditched the thank you cards and stamps with her face on them to take a crack at personally posting to Twitter — on an iPad no less. Very brave.
I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.

The Queen wrote a short and sweet message that read, “I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.” FYI, that mysterious “R” stands for Regina, which means “queen.”
Well, there were no typos and no absurd hashtags, and she managed to get everything in in under 140 characters. All in all, we’d say that was a very successful first tweet, Lizzy. A little more practice and she just might be ready for her first feud.
