‘Queer Eye’ Stars Tom Jackson and Fiancée Abby Open Up About Their Sweet Proposal
One of the best parts of Netflix’s beloved Queer Eye reboot was the surprise that contestant Tom Jackson and his ex-wife, Abby, had rekindled their romance and even gotten engaged once the cameras stopped rolling. Now, the pair has revealed the details of their engagement, and it’s as sweet and unassuming as the fan-favorite couple.
“We just went out for a quiet dinner, just the two of us, at one of our favorite restaurants,” Abby recently told Us Weekly. “He really wanted me to have a choice in my ring and to check out something I was absolutely crazy about. So we did that in the afternoon and went ring shopping, then went out to a nice dinner.”
Jackson, the truck driver who claimed “you can’t fix ugly” in the first episode of Queer Eye, revealed shortly after the series premiered that while he and Abby had gone on a few dates, they had once again split up. A few weeks later, he surprised fans with the news that not only had they gotten back together, but that they were giving marriage another shot. “I got her the ring she wanted,” he told Us, and which he excitedly shared a photo of when he tweeted the news of their engagement last week.
So far, the reunited couple doesn’t have any firm wedding plans, but Jackson did make it clear that he’d love for Queer Eye‘s Fab 5 expert panel — Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, and Tan France — to serve as his wedding party.
“[Tom] and I, we have never really been apart, apart,” Abby said of her and Jackson’s enduring love story, giving all of us hope that love is indeed real. “We have been best friends for 12 years and we have known each other for 12 years. We have always loved each other, that never stopped, whether we were together or not.”
