Rachel McAdams Is Narrating an Audiobook of Anne of Green Gables Just In Time for Your Holiday Commute
Between PBS’s new adaptation of Anne of Green Gables (showing on Thanksgiving Day) and Netflix’s new series based on the book (date TBD), the 1908 runaway is getting some seriously new life — and new talent, with Amybeth McNulty set to star as Netflix’s Anne.
Now, another huge celeb is jumping aboard the Anne train: Rachel McAdams.
The actress will be the voice of Audible’s new audiobook version of the beloved classic, and guys? She’s pretty pumped about it. “Performing Anne of Green Gables is one of the most exciting things I’ve ever been asked to do in my entire career,” she said in an Audible clip (what, not that award-winning kiss with Ryan Gosling in The Notebook!?)
Strategically set for release on November 22 so that you might enjoy it while en route to your (or your significant others’) families, Rachel says it’s the perfect pick to relive the glory days of simplicity.
“It’s a transporting book that takes you back to a time when things were simpler,” she says in the clip. “It contains so much emotion and delight that you just can’t help but smile, and laugh and cry. If you’re reading something you love so much and you connect to it emotionally, that passion and joy translates into what listeners hear. Loving the books as I did growing up, it was such a pleasure to perform it now.”
Gah, we can’t wait! Good thing there’s a special sneak peek below. (*wink emoji*)
