These Red Wine Hibiscus Popsicles Are the Perfect Boozy Winter Treat
While snow may have already made its first appearance in a few states, that doesn’t mean you have to result to hot-handed meals to keep your belly warm. Heck! We say do away with spicy soups or hot cocktail recipes, and opt for a cool-to-the-touch treat that will taste delicious and get you toasted. That’s where these red wine hibiscus popsicles come into play. While your friends are braving the cold to sip on a chai hot toddy in a bar, you’re sitting in the comfort of your already-toasty home with an adult-approved snack. Plus, with wholesome ingredients like honey, blueberries, red wine and hibiscus tea, this snack is actually a healthy treat — because red wine is considered a fruit, right? Ingredients:
- 1 cup red wine (any type of wine will do)
- handful of blueberries
- 2 cups freshly brewed hibiscus tea
- 1 Tablespoon honey
Instructions:
1. Boil about two cups of water in a tea kettle and pour it into a heat-protectant container.
2. Take two hibiscus tea bags and steep them in the hot water for about 10 minutes.
3. After about 10 minutes, carefully squeeze the extra tea from the bags into the water and dispose of them.
5. In a medium-sized bowl, add the hibiscus tea, red wine and honey. Carefully stir until everything is mixed together. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
6. Carefully pour the mixture into the popsicle molds and place them in the freezer for about an hour.
7. Once the liquid has begun to solidify, carefully place a few blueberries into the molds.
8. Slide in a popsicle stick down the middle and put the mold back into the freezer for another 3 hours.
9. Keep them in the freezer until you’re ready to eat.
