Announcing Re:Make, A Two-Day Event for Makers and Creators
Hi, I'm Brit, the founder and CEO of Brit + Co. I'm a young mom of two, tech nerd and design-inclined lady who has a zillion hobbies and curious about... just about everything! My mission from the beginning has been to unlock women's creativity and courage to try new things so that they can find the path to their true passions.
Today, I finally get to let you guys in on a little secret—okay, actually, a big secret! For the past several months at Brit HQ, we’ve been scheming with some of our favorite makers, designers, technologists, chefs and inventors to put together something epic. How epic? Let’s just say, cocktails, code, confetti, and 3D printers will all be involved.
On October 4th and 5th, we’re hosting our first ever Brit + Co. event called Re:Make right here in our hometown of San Francisco!
As the name implies, we’ve created this event to celebrate and discuss how “making” has changed over the past few years, thanks to our trusty old friend, The Internet. For two days, you’ll have the chance to join us for makers’ workshops and inspirational discussions, while also getting to see, shop and even re-create the work of some of our very favorite artisans.
Chris Anderson
Randi Zuckerberg, and HGTV’s Emily Henderson will join us to talk about how technology is revolutionizing creative work. From fashion to food, and DIY to home, we’ll explore how tech is changing and enabling each of these industries. We’ve also teamed up with Pinterest to bring Re:Make to life online. We’ll be pinning the best Re:Make ideas before the event, and throughout both days. As part of the agenda on day one, we’ll also host a panel with top pinners like Joy Cho, a Brit Pick and the founder of Oh Joy!.
Here’s a sampling the speakers who will be joining us. More will be announced over the coming weeks!
Chris Anderson, CEO of 3D Robotics and Founder of DIY Drones
Emily Henderson, Winner of HGTV Design Star and Host of Secrets from a Stylist
Randi Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media
Maxine Bédat, Co-Founder of Zady
Joy Deangdeelert Cho, Founder and Editor of Oh Joy!
Bridget Dolan, Vice President of Digital Marketing at Sephora
Jennifer Hyman, Founder and CEO of Rent the Runway
Susan Gregg Koger, Co-Founder of ModCloth
Melody McCloskey, Founder and CEO of StyleSeat
Aubrie Pagano, Founder and CEO of Bow & Drape
Jonathan Pogash, The Cocktail Guru
And while we’re stoked about the speakers, the audience members will be just as noteworthy. We’ll be hosting over 200 makers, artists, designers, chefs and inventors who are inspiring a new generation to create.
But wait. There’s more!
Didn’t you read up there that this is a TWO-day event? Day two of Re:Make is open to anyone with a creative side. This day is absolutely free and open to the general public. Artisans and makers from across the country will join together to teach hands-on workshops ranging from 3D printing to jewelry making. A large number of makers will also set up pop-up shops so that you can buy their beautiful handmade goods.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the artisans who will showcase their work. We expect close to 100 total and will be continuing to announce more over the coming months.
