Rihanna Shut Down NYFW With the Most Inclusive Fashion Show
Ever since Rihanna began making a name for herself in the beauty and fashion world with her first Fenty Beauty Collection and the launch of her first lingerie collection, Savage x Fenty, she’s consistently proving that she’s here to design for all body types. She wants everyone to “shine like a diamond” so she shut down NYFW with one of the most inclusive line-ups we’ve ever seen on the runway.
At the Savage x Fenty show in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard, fans watching in person and online via YouTube were treated to a bevy of bold, bright colors and prints as models walked and danced through a lush jungle. In her first runway show for the collection, Rihanna proved she was not here for mainstream fashion brands featuring a singular type of beauty, because the show was a celebration of womanhood in all its forms, and of course, she shut it down.
Aside from famous faces like Bella and Gigi Hadid, the new looks were modeled by women of many different body types, featuring two pregnant models and an array of diverse models. Here are a few of our favorite looks from the show, which are available for purchase online now.
When speaking to Entertainment Tonight backstage, Rihanna revealed that she wants women to wear the designs that make them feel the sexiest, no matter what that looks like. She said, “I think women’s bodies are designed so differently, uniquely that they should just do what makes them feel best and sexiest.”
Check out the entire show here, and shop the collection online now. There’s also a Savage x Fenty NYC pop-up shop at 577 Broadway, with other locations coming soon.
