Here’s Why ‘Riverdale’ Star Lili Reinhart Is ‘Not Okay’ Talking About Her Relationship
Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have walked the red carpet together, but neither has ever spoken about the long-rumored relationship publicly. And that won’t change anytime soon. In a new interview, Reinhart doubled down on her decision to maintain her privacy, saying in no uncertain terms that she will not talk about her personal life.
“I’m not okay talking about my relationship,” she firmly told Harper’s Bazaar. “I’m not going to tell you my love story. That’s just not appropriate right now.”
Both Reinhart and Sprouse have been adamant that they won’t speak about their reported relationship. While Sprouse has said that he doesn’t want to give the public an expectation of entitlement to personal information, Reinhart has straight-up said she doesn’t owe it to the world to dish. Speaking to Harper’s, she also said that it only serves to fuel the nonstop speculation, which she still struggles to deal with.
“Am I pregnant? Am I dating someone? Am I gay? Am I gaining weight? Am I homophobic?” she said about the constant barrage of headlines. “People will always have something to say. I’ve accepted that. It doesn’t mean it’s not frustrating when people say those things. It’s not like it just rolls off my back.”
While she refuses to comment on her love life, Reinhart did recently take to social media to address some of the other speculation, shutting down pregnancy rumors while taking the opportunity to turn the situation into a lesson on body positivity. “Sometimes I go through periods of time where I gain weight. My body is something that I will NEVER apologize for,” she said. “My body will constantly go through change. And so will yours. And that’s fine. So let’s not put so much time and effort into caring about a stranger’s figure.”
