Need More Motivation to Run? Disney’s Races Have Glitter Beer
If you’re on the fence about running a 5K, 10K, half or full marathon, consider this: Disney World races have some delicious boozy beverages at the finish line. Talk about motivation, right? We got to try this ourselves at the runDisney Princess Half Marathon weekend at Walt Disney World, where we indulged on a little cabernet frosé slush, an iridescent pink Minnie-topped glass of Moët, and (drumroll) glitter berry beer with actual edible shimmer.
Envision yourself in your very best princess running costume, charging through the finish line on through to a little pavilion in which someone hands you an ice cold pint of fruity sparkling beer. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of, honestly. But you won’t find these particular drinks at the other runDisney events; these were specifically crafted, mixed, and dashed with pixie dust for the Princess event (and rightfully so). In fact, each race at Walt Disney World has exclusive alcoholic drinks for runners to celebrate their hard work with a victory toast (like the Star Wars races — they offer a 13.1 Parsec Pineapple Pale Ale).
Princess weekend caters to a wine-loving, Instagram-obsessed millennial audience (as you may have gathered) and tailors the menu accordingly. The result is not just wow-worthy aesthetically, but gets a 10 out of 10 on flavor. This year’s offerings included:
Glitter Berry Beer: A fruit-forward ale specifically brewed at Playalinda for the Princess race weekend. Edible glitter swirls in the brew itself, and it’s served in a sparkly pint-sized tumbler. Runners love a good beer at the end of a race, but leave it to Disney to add a whole lot of magic to an otherwise run-of-the-mill libation (and no, you can’t taste the glitter).
Cabernet FitVine Frosé: Made with low-calorie but robust FitVine cab, this frosty berry blend is an absolute must-try.
Pinot Grigio FitVine Frosé: Citrusy, fresh, and low-cal thanks to FitVine, this iteration of the frosé has a bit of zesty gin that pairs nicely with the light and crisp fruit flavors.
Princess Minnie Champagne and Rosé: Get a glass of vino or Moët bubbles with an iridescent topper (Fun fact: These white chocolate Minnie ears are painted pink from the resort’s chocolatier). It’s ‘grammable, sophisticated, and tasty.
These are just some of the effervescent finish line rewards you can look forward to at a runDisney race; the Walt Disney World resort hosts several races every year, each with their own perfectly themed adult beverages. But if sparkly beer and pink Champagne tickles your fancy, you’ll definitely want to sign up for 2020’s Princess weekend. Cheers!
