Ryan Gosling’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Will Make Your Heart Sing

Ryan Gosling’s Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Will Make Your Heart Sing

Oh, Ryan Gosling, is there anything you can’t do? During last night’s Golden Globe Awards, dreamy dad Ryan took home the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical award for his work in the big winner of the night, La La Land. While the musical swept its categories and his co-star, Emma Stone, also won (her ex Andrew Garfield’s response was perfect), it’s what Ryan said during his acceptance speech that had us all crying tears of joy.

Not only did Ryan start by joking that it wasn’t the first time he’d been mistaken for Ryan Reynolds, but he graciously thanked his co-star Stone, and the movie’s director, saying that they were the reason he was up for the award in the first place. After that, Ryan got serious, and started talking about his love, Eva Mendez.

When talking about Mendez, he said, “You don’t get to be up here without standing on a mountain of people… But I’d like to try to thank one person properly, and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.” If Mendez hadn’t taken all that extra weight on her shoulders, Ryan declared, he wouldn’t have been able to win his award.

Ryan asked the audience if they wouldn’t mind that he dedicate his award win to his brother-in-law, Juan Carlos Mendez, who has since passed away from his cancer, and expressed love and gratitude to all the women in his family.

Ryan Gosling’s ability to appreciate all he has in his life is inspiring and gives us real #partnergoals. And we love thinking about how this Canadian import is surrounded by strong Latinas in his life.
