And the 2019 Golden Globes Hosts Are…
With the 2019 Golden Globes just a few weeks away, NBC has tapped an unexpected (but actually kind of great) duo to host the annual awards show. On January 6, Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg will team up to entertain their fellow actors and honor the best in TV and movies over the past year.
“Sandra and Andy are the perfect choices to host this world-class event,” Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, said in a press release. “They bring wit, charm, and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television. It’s sure to be another unforgettable fun-filled night.”
Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Meher Tatna echoed that sentiment, saying, “We’re excited to welcome Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg as co-hosts of Hollywood’s Party of the Year. Both Golden Globe Award recipients have continually showcased their talents in film and television, and we can’t wait see what their undeniable chemistry will bring to the Golden Globes stage.”

Oh and Samberg have one Golden Globe each. Oh’s portrayal of Dr. Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy earned her the Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film in 2006. And Samberg took home the award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for his role as Jake Peralta on Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2014.
And while the combination of their talents might seem like a random choice, the two previously took the stage together to present at the 2018 Emmys, where they poked fun at the Oscars Best Picture blunder. Samberg also hosted the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards back in 2015.
