Sasha Pieterse Teases New Details About the “Pretty Little Liars” Spinoff
If you were thrilled by the news that that a Pretty Little Liars spinoff is in the works — intriguingly deemed Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists — then you don’t want to miss out on these juicy details from the show’s star Sasha Pieterse.
Pieterse, who will reprise her role as Alison DiLaurentis in the spinoff, revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the new series has actually been in the works for over a year. “I’m a good secret keeper, come on! On that show [PLL] for seven years? I know what to do,” she quipped.
She also said that she hasn’t stepped onto the new set yet, but expects to do so sooner rather than later. “I think early next year we start filming, which will be very fun,” she told ET of the Freeform series, which will also star Janel Parrish as her PLL character Mona Vanderwaal.
Asked by ET if any of the other PLL ladies will be showing up, Pieterse teased, “I’m sure that they will. We have to keep the PLL family alive, obviously…”
The season 25 Dancing With the Stars contestant also gave fans a little info on where we’ll be jumping into the action this time around. “I don’t want to get in trouble, but I think it’s a year or two [after the PLL finale],” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Honestly, I’m so glad that we’re kind of picking up where we left off. We left it in such a good place and I’m excited to be a mom, hell yeah!”
As fans surely remember, we last saw Alison and Emily (Shay Mitchell) together and raising twin girls, Lily and Grace. And it looks like the little ones will be a part of the spinoff.
However, there is the one tiny fact complicating the situation: Mitchell is set to star in a different I. Marlene King-produced series, The Heiresses. But Pieterse doesn’t think it’ll be a problem.
In any case, she’s happy to get the chance to continue to do what she loves, and with a character she loves. “[Alison]’s amazing and I think, honestly, you’ll see a little bit more of a feisty side of her now that she’s in another element that she’s not used to,” she shared.
