Scarlett Johansson’s MTV Movie Awards Makeup Is Our New Fave Spring Look
At last night’s MTV movie awards, A-listers brought the best versions of themselves on the powder blue carpet. With glowing skin and a sweeping brown smokey eye, Jennifer Lopez looked like the bronze goddess she always is. Shailene Woodley continued her quirky take on red carpet glamour with a red lip and braided crop that were calling a must-try for short haired girls everywhere. And with a slicked back ‘do and gorgeously groomed brows, Cara Delevingne served up her usual dose of tomboy glam. All in all the award show beauty was stunning, but nothing entirely exciting… until we saw Scarlett Johansson.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron star stood out from the pack wearing one of spring’s most unassuming, yet daring color combos: brown eyeshadow with a pastel pink lip. The pretty pairing came across as a soft, sweet contrast to her choppy pixie cut and decked out ear candy, and felt much more natural than J.Lo’s attempt at the look at last year’s Oscars, probably due to Scarlett’s matching blush that tied the whole look together. The takeaway: follow ScarJo’s lead and keep the color selections on the softer side (for lips think: rose or pinky coral versus bubblegum, for eyes: go nutty and metallic) and you’ll nail this perfect-for-spring look, no matter what your skin tone. Scroll below to find the pink and brown duo that’s right for you.
Light Skin
MAC Please Me ($16) + Bare Minerals Velvet Pecan Eyeshadow ($14): Keep things soft and subtle in this low-key combo. This lip option offers up a relatively matte look, so if you want to add a little bit of shine, simply add a layer of clear gloss over it. Opt for this shade of brownish gold eyeshadow for a color that will add some depth to your fair skin without making it look like you haven’t slept in days.
Medium Skin
Makeup For Ever Lipstick in Satin Coral ($20) + Urban Decay Smog Eyeshadow ($18): If you’re more of a beige or olive skin tone, go a little bit bolder in this slightly more saturated combination. While this lip color looks pretty orange on its own, it definitely tones down when actually applied to lips (as proven by this beauty blogger). As far as eyeshadow goes, this pick from Urban Decay this color should be just dark enough to add a little drama to those lids.
Dark Skin
NARS Satin Lip Pencil Rikugien ($26) + Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Artifact Shadow ($14): For all you ladies with dark skin, copy Scarlett’s look in this shimmery pairing. This NARS lip pencil promises a super soft shade of pink that will work equally as well for day or night. Pair with this OCC shadow that will add a subtle hint of gold.
