The Secret Beauty Rituals of Women With Flawless Skin
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if you’re standing in front of any of these industry writers, ‘grammers, and makeup artists, you would agree that it has a great deal to do with *perfect* skin. Genetics can lend a hand when it comes to an A-lister-like visage, but the right combo of products and treatments can also help keep early signs of aging at bay. Commit their must-haves and tips to memory, then prepare to face the season with a fresh new glow.
Jeanette Zinno — BEAUTY WRITER & EXPERT
“I always follow the ABCs of achieving healthy skin: lots of water, a healthy diet, minimal sugar, supplements (d3 + b6), and sleep! When my skin gets cray, I believe it’s something going on internally, and I do the Dr. Frank Lipman’s Be Well Cleanse to restore balance. I only get facials with Stalina Glot at Haven Spa every few months or when my skin needs some love, and I recently tried their Diamond Peel, which actually sucks out blackheads (gross, but it works).
My skincare products change with the seasons and I’m always trying new things, but I’m currently obsessed with Farmacy’s Honey Drop Moisturizer ($45), La Prairie Absolute Filler ($590), Skinceuticals C E Ferulic ($165), Raw SPF ($19), CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser ($11) and coconut oil to take off my makeup. It smells delicious and protects my skin because there’s no rubbing of the delicate eye area, which can lead to wrinkles. I also exfoliate and mask two to three times a week with Cane + Austin Face & Body Retexture Scrub ($42) and Amala Yogurt Mask ($64) and La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Sleep Mask ($345).
As for treatments or rituals for glowing skin and a healthy state of mind, I go to Higher Dose for their infrared sauna to sweat out nasty toxins and Floating Lotus for their sensory deprivation healing treatment, AKA floating in a tub filled with Epsom salts to keep from stressing. I bike a few times a week as a Schwinn Ambassador and mix up my workout classes, and all of these things help, along with genetics.”

“I can’t live without my Magic Night Cream ($145). It’s a revolutionary beauty sleep cream-elixir that will give you the best skin of your life! There’s nothing else on the market quite like it, and I literally look five years younger since I started using it. It’s packed full of a powerhouse of eight magic youth-boosting ingredients, including bio-nymph peptide complex, sodium hyaluronate, rose hip oil, camelia oil, and anti-oxidant vitamin E to give you a gorgeously luminous, velvety texture.
For skincare rituals I always use my special technique called the ‘Tilbury Tap,’ where you blend your moisturizer up and out like angel wing, which promotes lymphatic drainage. Then, using a pitter-patter motion, tap in the cream to encourage microcirculation. This immediately gives you a complexion lift, and also helps to redefine bone structure.”

KAMIE CRAWFORD — Beauty Expert, Model, and Influencer
“Every morning when I wake up, I spray my entire being with Mario Badescu Rosewater Spray ($7) that I store in the fridge. It’s immediately refreshing and has seriously changed my life. After that, I’ll typically use Embryolisse Lait‑Crème Concentré ($16) or Weleda Skin Food ($19), then top everything off with my Farsáli Rose Gold Elixir ($54) before I apply my makeup.
I’ve recently been loving Milk Makeup Cooling Water ($24) and IT Cosmetics Bye-Bye Under Eye Cream ($48) for de-puffing my eyes in the morning, but good old fashioned Preparation H will always be #1 in my book for getting rid of extra baggage — fast.
I also exfoliate three times a week at most, with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Face Wash Daily Scrub ($5) or my Glycolic Foaming Cleanser from Mario Badescu ($16). I have super sensitive skin, so the less ingredients, the better when it comes to my skincare! That being said, First Aid Beauty has become one of my BFFs. It’s so simple and creamy and does amazing things.
My beauty oils are my keys to killing the skincare game. Farsáli, Sunday Riley, Tarte, Tatcha… the list goes on and on. It’s rare that I find a beauty oil that I don’t like, and I use one every single night before bed. My friends know once the face oil is on — I’m in for the night!”

“For me, skincare is the most important step. If your skin looks rough, so will your makeup! I love a cleansing oil; right now I’m obsessed with the Dermalogica Precleanse Balm ($45) as it removes all makeup without making your skin feel depleted of its natural oils. Bioderma Sensibio H2O ($11) is truly a life staple and every makeup artist owns this — it’s the micellar that rules all micellars. I use it to remove makeup when I’m being lazy and don’t want to properly cleanse, but I will keep using cotton rounds with Bioderma on them until they can’t take any more dirt.
I also love skin that has a healthy shine to it, so 8 Faces Boundless Solid Oil ($88) is amazing. I really love the Sunday Riley C.E.O. line, as it’s very hydrating, brightening, and leaves the skin looking super glossy. For eye cream, I use a Clé de Peau Beauté Eye Contour Cream ($255) that I just love.
Face mists are my jam and I use MAC Prep + Prime Fix + ($25) to set my makeup, dampen an eyeshadow, or create a liner or cream shadow. The Tatcha Dewy Skin Face Mist ($48) is dreamy as well and gives that soft gleam to the skin, but I love the Dermalogica UltraCalming Mist ($11) whenever my skin doesn’t like me. I’ll mist over my face and it soon calms it down.
For lips, I love the LANO Balms ($14) since they are free of petroleum and have amazing flavors. I’m also married to Weleda Skin Food ($19). It’s so glowy and solves everything: dry bits, scratches, and sunburn. It’s great as a highlighter or eye gloss. Facials I don’t do that much, but when I do, I love the Biologique Facial at Daphne European Skincare & Sugaring Studio. I can only describe it by saying it’s like a reset on your skin! It makes it feel brand new.”

“Exfoliate regularly! I dermaplane my face once a week to help remove dead skin cells. Makeup goes on smoother and I get better results from products used after, as they can penetrate deeper. I also use ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($85) two to three times a week for both physical and chemical exfoliation; it leaves my skin glowing.
Hydration is key — hydrated skin looks and feels much healthier. I like to steam my face with a hot washcloth for three to five minutes to open pores, then apply a hydrating product like DermalQuench Liquid Lift ($98) and lock it in with a rich moisturizer. This is especially important during winter.
Wear sunscreen no matter what. I apply SPF year round, even on days when I might be inside the majority of the time. I’ve been loving UncompliKated SPF 50 Soft Focus Setting Spray ($38) because it’s easy to apply over makeup throughout the day, and I always reapply sunscreen every few hours.”

CARA Loren — INFLUENCER
“Sometimes we forget just how important it is to take care of our skin through the night. The products I have listed are ones I use to help repair the damage my skin has taken on within a day, and they have the right ingredients to help restore firmness, elasticity, and radiance to my skin by morning.
For my nighttime routine I use: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye ($37), Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil ($32), Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($46), Kiehl’s Nightly-Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate ($54), and Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream ($62).
These products also help to keep my skin looking and feeling young, while reducing puffiness and those dark under-eye circles at the same time.”

Tata Harper — founder of Tata Harper Skincare
“I always exfoliate and polish in the morning with my Regenerating Cleanser ($78), which is super key for glowing skin, because it prevents build-up and lets your other products sink in. Then I’ll use my favorite product from the line, the Elixir Vitae Serum ($380), on my entire face and Boosted Contouring Serum ($195) on my neck. Afterwards I layer on the Repairative Moisturizer ($105) for extra hydration. I don’t really wear a lot of makeup, but on some occasions I use one of our Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tints ($36) for a rosy glow and Be Adored ($29) for a nice shiny lip.”
