Selena Gomez Just Shared Some Exciting News About ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2
Selena Gomez’s ongoing battle with Lupus took a particular toll on the singer this year, ultimately resulting in the need for a life-saving kidney transplant. But her health problems haven’t stopped her work behind the scenes as an executive producer on Netflix’s controversial13 Reasons Why, a show that, according to a new update from Gomez, is just a little bit closer to bringing us the highly anticipated second season.
On Monday, Gomez posted an Instagram of two strips of photo booth pics showing her and several 13 Reasons Why cast members celebrating the wrap of the second season.
“And this year wraps up with another committed journey with @13reasonswhy — Season 2 is coming,” she wrote. “To every person on this project, thank you for coming back. Good or bad we are committed to having the tough conversations, to telling the story that can start change.”
Stars Katherine Langford (Hannah Baker), Dylan Minnette (Clay Jensen), and Christian Navarro (Tony Padilla) were among the actors on hand to mark the occasion. Striking goofy poses and puckering up for the camera, the cast — as well as Gomez — seemed in good, celebratory spirits.

Gomez also made a separate post to congratulate Langford on her Golden Globe nomination for the show. She’ll compete against Maggie Gyllenhaal, Elisabeth Moss, and more in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Television Series category.
“To this gorgeous, kind-hearted lady. You endured this character with such strength and softness,” Gomez wrote, sharing a photo of the two of them from the show’s premiere back in March. “I am so proud you are being acknowledged for doing just that! GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINEE!!! Ladies are shining!”
So far, we know that 13 Reasons Why season 2 will introduce several new characters and tell the story of Hannah’s suicide from several different perspectives and voiceovers. Netflix also stated that the show will “explore the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls and women in our culture — and what we could do better in both cases,” a theme that feels especially poignant in our current climate.
So far, there is no premiere date locked down for season 2, but by the sounds of it, more details will be made available in the coming weeks.
