Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato Reunited at the InStyle Awards and Fans Are So Happy
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato first met as child actors, becoming not only costars but best friends on the kids’ show Barney & Friends. They’ve grown apart since then, though, and while they still occasionally send social media support to each other, they haven’t spent much time together IRL. That changed on Monday, October 23, when they reunited and were photographed together for the first time in YEARS.
Appearing at the third annual InStyle Awards at the Getty Center in LA on Monday, Gomez and Lovato were all smiles as they posed side-by-side, arms around each other.
It was a reunion a long time in the making. The two young stars have had their ups and downs since starring in Disney’s Princess Protection Program together, both individually and in their friendship. But despite — or more likely, because of — their history together, they still have each other’s backs.
Over the summer, Lovato sent some Twitter love to Gomez and her song “Fetish.” And recently, Gomez reached out on Instagram to praise Lovato following the release of her candid new documentary, Simply Complicated.
“This was beautiful. I’m so happy for you,” Gomez commented on her longtime pal’s page. “You always continue to [be] bold and real. I wish more people were like you. Love you.”
Naturally, fans of the duo were BEYOND excited to see them together again, and many shared their joy with the world.

Out of all the pain and hurt in this world, Selena and Demi taking pictures is the only thing that brings me joy. My childhood is crying. pic.twitter.com/kiDVGtVT2x

“WHO IS READY FOR PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM 2,” one excited fan tweeted. And while it’s not likely to happen, we can’t say we hate the idea. Demi and Selena forever!
