Selena Gomez Is Lending Her Vocal Talents to “The Voyage of Dr. Doolittle”
As a chart-topping singer, an executive producer for Netflix hit 13 Reasons Why, and a spokesmodel for companies such as Coach and PUMA (have you seen her new ballerina campaign?), Selena Gomez has a lot on her plate. But she’s making room for more, as the 25-year-old has just signed on to lend her vocal talents to an upcoming project alongside Robert Downey Jr!
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising Star has signed on to voice one of the animals in The Voyage of Dr. Doolittle, for which Downey Jr. will play the unorthodox doctor with the ability to speak to creatures outside the human species.
She’ll certainly be in good company, with Tom Holland, Emma Thompson, and Ralph Fiennes also on board to join the voice cast, with Michael Sheen and Antonio Banderas set for action roles.
It won’t be the former Disney star’s first time in the vocal booth — she also provided the pipes to the character of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania series (the third of which is due out later this year), Helga in Horton Hears a Hoo, and Princess Selenia (clever, no?) in Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard — who knew?
Still, we’re excited to see her getting back into the swing of things following what she calls a “life or death battle” with Lupus and resulting kidney transplant back in September.
The Voyage of Dr. Doolittle is set for release early next year on April 12, 2019.
