Here’s Why 18,000 Women Want This Belt Bag
Never underestimate the effect a great accessory can have on a woman — or, in the case of Senreve’s new belt bags, 18,000 women. The primarily direct-to-consumer label, known for creating modern, accessible luxury bags, teased the styles on Instagram and subsequently created a virtual fashion frenzy.
Almost immediately following their Insta-debut of the Aria and Coda bags, Senreve was bombarded with interest from women via the social platform, direct emails, and their online chat function, all looking to purchase the upcoming styles. When the number of wannabe customers climbed well into the five-digit range, the brand, which had originally planned to launch just one of the bags in November, pushed up the launch and produced both versions. Now, the belt bags are officially available for pre-order, and within 24 hours of making them available, two colors had already sold out.
So why exactly did women go so nuts for the Aria and Coda? It likely has something to do with the combination of fashion and function. Both styles can be worn four different ways: around the waist, as a crossbody, clutch, and shoulder bag. Each has a metal chain and removable leather straps, and can comfortably fit an iPhone, beauty essentials, keys, and a wallet.
Available in both smooth and pebbled leather, as well as several colors ranging from black to lilac, the belt bags are priced from $345 to $395. They incited the kind of madness you wouldn’t necessarily predict for what is essentially a modern interpretation of the fanny pack but, as this instance has proven, if you build it — and it’s sleek, versatile, and stylish — they will come.
